Tirana, 30 January 2018– The National Network for LGBTI Rights in Albania, PINK Embassy, Open Mind Spectrum Albania (OMSA) and the Human Rights House - HRH, Children's Human Rights Centre in Albania (CRCA), The National Helpline for LGBTI Adolescent, Albanian Coalition for Education - ACE, Albanian National Youth Network – ANYN, the Pride Marching Organization team today set the date October 5th2018 as the date of holding the 4th Tirana Pride.

The Pride 2018 will be a day of solidarity with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex community who due to historical discrimination face many difficulties in their lives. Although in recent years our country has made great legal and social progress towards the acceptance of sexual and gender diversity, culturally and normatively the visibility of the LGBTI community is still at low levels becoming an obstacle to their recognition and acceptance in the Albanian society.

The increase of the visibility of the LGBTI issue brings empowerment to democracy, respect for dignity and human rights, and a genuine emancipation of society. In this context, the pride has to do with the right to live free, overcoming the sense of shame, guilt and wrong perception of many LGBTI people, since being part of this community they are not worthy of family, society, and life itself.

The organizing group of the Pride 2018 invites all Albanian institutions, organizations and citizens to join this activity in order to say no to discrimination, exclusion and hatred, to say yes to love, respect and dignity.

This is the year of love and LGBTI community rights, so on 5 October 2018 join with us in our fourth Pride.
