Pink Embassy

PINK Embassy aims to make possible in the developing Albanian society, the position, rights and needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual (LGBT) community and people still uncertain of their sexual orientation (Questioning) be fully respected and their needs and concerns be appropriately addressed.

The entire PINK Embassy action will aim in improving the attitude and behaviour of the Albanian government and society towards LGBT community individuals and issues, as well as the total integration of this community into the Albanian social, economic and political life.

At the end of three years, after the implementation of the PINK Embassy strategic plan, will have been achieved the following main results:

Result 1:
Establishment of Pink Embassy and an organisation of and for LGBT community

Result 2:
National and international community will be mobilised in support of PINK Embassy

Result 3:
Attitude of Albanian society and government with regard to the respect of LGBT rights will have been improved

Result 4:
A secure and supporting environment for LGBT individuals is created, making possible their socialisation, organisation and strengthening of their own capacities

PINK Embassy activity will be oriented toward two main directions:

- Advocacy and lobbing for guaranteeing the respect of LGBT community rights– through informative and educational campaigns, monitory of cases of human rights violation for LGBT members and reaction against anyone who threatens or jeopardises these rights, influence the government and policymaking to build effective mechanisms in favour of LGBT community;

- Create favourable conditions for facilitating LGBT community visibility and mobilisation – through social events, group discussions, “mentor” groups and “peer support” and activities that empower this community to become spokespersons and defenders of their own rights;
