25 January 2016, Tirana – Representatives of PINK Embassy / LGBT Pro Albania introduced the LGBT topic at training on the same topic for the Peace Corps staff in Albania. The latter is an international service organization of the United States of America which sends volunteers in many countries of the world in order to offer support to local communities, present American culture and learn about the traditions and cultures of the host countries.
The training was joined by two representatives of PINK Embassy who presented the LGBT situation in Albania, the movement, challenges and prejudices faced by same sex couples in the country.
The training served to know the LGBT topic in the Albanian context, present the Festival of Diversity, two Tirana Prides that have been organized, evaluate the types of discrimination faced by the community, the services being offered, the views of political parties, religious communities, the media etc.
This training was beneficial not only for the American team but also for many Albanians who are part of the Peace Corps team. In fact their contribution was very important in the debate that followed.
PINK wishes to thank the Peace Corps Albania for giving us the opportunity to present the LGBT topic with their new staff members.
