PINK joins seminar on sexuality and life skills

15-16 April – PINK Embassy / LGBT Pro Albania joined the two-day training on “Sexuality and life skills” held at secondary school in the village of Bërzhitë near Tirana, by Albanian Centre for Population and Development (ACPD) and Youth Centre YES.

The training was held for 17 teachers from the fields of education, biology, sociology etc at the school of Bërzhitë in order to test topics and methodologies that teachers can use in developing curricula on “sexuality and life skills” as a resource for a unified program on gender, HIV/AIDS, sexual orientation and gender identity, sexual rights and human rights in general. This curriculum enables teachers to address not only individual factors of sexual and reproductive health of pupils and youth but also the social factors of their health and wellbeing.

The final goal of the curriculum is to teach youth to enjoy dignity, equality and a healthy and responsible sexual life.

The training served to increase knowledge on the above topics and was designed in order to answer the needs of teachers on these topics and the methods that need to be used to make topics as understandable to the students.

PINK Embassy thanks ACPD and Youth Centre YES for including the areas of sexual orientation and gender identity on this training and wishes for these trainings to be as frequent as possible.
