13 October 2014 – Six young activists were certified on October 6th by PINK Embassy for their participation and engagement with the International Seminar “Free to express me – fighting homophobic and transphobic hate speech” which took place in Tirana on 25-27 September organized by international youth LGBTI organizations network, BABELNOR.
Hosted as an activity by PINK Embassy the seminar aimed to increase capacities of participants in finding ways how to respond to hate speech targeting LGBT people and other vulnerable groups. Experts from the Council of Europe held workshops for a better recognition of hate speech and the development of a legal framework as well as other mechanisms to address this phenomenon.
Volunteers and participants from Albania benefited from the training and the exchange with activists by helping them to better recognize Tirana and Albania, facilitating and assisting in several awareness and social activities in Tirana and attending the workshops and sessions of the seminar.
PINK Embassy thanked all participants and volunteers from Albania being aware that through the knowledge and experience gained, these young people will be allies in our efforts to further raise public awareness on LGBTI rights.
Once again we want to give special thanks to Tea Hodaj, Denis Arapi, Xhuljana Celaj, Elisa Xhafkollari, Iris Plangarica, Emi Lamllari, Eni Merepeza and Marsida Kacollja.
